Dr. Tamara Rotz’s dual roles as musician and educational technologist keep her active nationally as a performer and educator. As a baroque flutist, she is currently principal flute with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, and has performed with Apollo’s Fire, Concert Royal, the Dallas Bach Society, and at both the Boston and Berkeley Early Music Festivals. As a modern flutist, violinist, and violist, she has performed in regional orchestras across Colorado, Wyoming, Indiana, Montana, and Texas. Currently, Dr. Rotz is an active member of chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras on the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas in Washington State. She can be heard on the recordings Own the Pow’r of Harmony! with mezzo-soprano Jennifer Lane and Cornucopia with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado.
Dr. Rotz holds a Master of Music Performance degree from Indiana University’s Early Music Institute and a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas. She studied baroque flute with Jed Wentz, Janet See, and Eva Legene, and baroque violin/viola with Stanley Richie and Cynthia Roberts. A native of Western Washington, she returned to her home state in 2017 where she works for Peninsula College as the eLearning Administrator and is a coach for the Kitsap Philharmonic Youth Symphony. When not practicing one of three instruments or troubleshooting tech issues for faculty, you can find her outdoors hiking, running, and camping in the most beautiful place on earth.
