A delightfully haunted evening awaits, with strange and supernatural music of the Baroque era, by Marin Marais, Anthony Holborne, Henry Purcell, from the Gottweig Archive, and Giuseppe Tartini.

Paul Primus, baroque violin and harpsichord; Barbara Hamilton, viola d’amore and baroque violin; Sarah Biber, viola da gamba and baroque cello; Sarah Graf, viola da gamba; Karl Reque, viola da gamba; Chris Kendall, Actor.

The strange and supernatural is present in many Baroque pieces, and we invite you to join us for an eerie and delightfully haunted set of concerts! Some say that the very sounds of the viola d’amore and viola da gamba create an alternate universe- see if you agree!

The CCP will perform Marin Marais’ dramatic piece about a bladder surgery Tableau de l’Opération de la Taille; Antony Holborne’s The Funeral and The Night Watch, Henry Purcell’s poignant 4 and 5-part consort Fantasias; Suite #19 from the Gottweig Archive (attributed to Heinrich Bieber)  and Giuseppe Tartini’s devilishly hard Devil’s Trill Sonata.

Spooky poems by Emily Dickinson, Moya Cannon, Robert Herrick and William Shakespeare will set the mood, read by Chris Kendall.
